Lets assume that you are new to Email 2.0 and go over the key differences between what we call ‘old school email’ and the New Email 2.0 Concept.

A standard ‘old school’ email as we all know, looks like this: yourname@domain.com
The first part of the email address is before the @ (yourname@) this is your ‘username’ (sometimes called an alias). The second part is the domain name (@domain.com), essentially you are a 'user' at a 'domain'.  

Now, a new Email 2.0 email address looks like this: @yourname.domain.com
Quite simply put, your username has been moved to be after the @ sign. This allows you to use the first part , before the @ sign, as your own personal tracking system by simply assigning a username to the people or businesses who ‘use’ your email box.

Here are a few Examples: (The new Email 2.0 username shown in green)

For example lets say that you give your mom the following email to contact you
mom@joe.email-2-0.com , and you register for a credit card using this email mastercard.com@joe.email-2-0.com , your email reader may look this:

Subject	From (Sender)
Family Reunion July 24th dont miss it kid!	(mom) Jane Smith
Your Master Card is now activated	(mastercard.com) MC Office
Save your mortgage with Home Loans Online Now	(mastercard.com) Loans Central

As you can see, (mom) and (mastercard.com) are indicated in parentheses in the From or sender column of your email reader! (email readers may include webmail, or your email software like Outlook or Thunderbird). In the example above, you have one email from Home Loans which does not mention mastercard.com in the email, but was sent to your mastercard.com username. This means that some other company has acquired your email address from mastercard.com, somehow, and sent you email. The Email 2.0 infrastructure allows you to instantly identify and track who shares your email address with others, simply and easily, because of this unique user identification system.
